Snakestones, Sea Monsters and the remarkable Victorian fossil hunter Mary Anning

A Talk by Liz Hide, Director Sedgwick Museum of Earth Sciences, University of Cambridge.

Imagine finding a huge fossil of a creature that looks like nothing you’ve ever seen before. Liz Hide will introduce us to life in the seas 200 million years ago, and to the fossil hunter who played a key part in our understanding of this part of  geological history.  She’ll also talk about some of the detective work in uncovering Anning’s legacy in the Sedgwick Museum.

6pm-7pm

Our current exhibition Dinosaurium: Reimagined Creatures will be open to visit prior to the talk. 

7pm-8pm

Collect a complimentary drink and settle in for a fascinating talk by guest speaker, Liz Hide. Running time approximately 40mins with time for a Q&A.
