Kidlington Reminiscences | Banbury Museum

A bit of background information:

In the autumn of 2010, the prospect of running regular monthly reminiscence sessions in Kidlington was realised. Banbury Museum was accepted onto the ‘Volunteers Workforce Development Project’ funded by MERLE.

The group is now very well established, supported with funding from the Arts Council England through the Aspire consortium based in Oxford. The reminiscence sessions have proved extremely successful with over 60 names on the membership list, and 20+ attending each month. It is our aim to provide an opportunity for senior residents in the area to talk about their life experiences, of changes seen over the decades in their village or town. It is always wonderful to capture a blend of individuals memories and record them for the future.

How to join the group:

The group welcomes all members of the community over the age of 55 with interest in sharing stories, knowledge and memories of times gone by.

Topics for discussion are suggested by the members, and everyone is encouraged to bring along any related information, artefacts and photos that they would like to share with the group.

  • The group meets at the Kidlington Baptist Church on the High Street.
  • The session starts at 2 pm until 4 pm with refreshments included.
  • The cost is £2 per person, and please come along if you can.
