More about Rachel Merry

Favourite Place

There are too many places! The North Yorkshire coast … Lindos on the island of Rhodes. I might just have to say my allotment for the peace and sense of achievement that it provides.

Favourite Museum Object

The sample shade cards for the silk plush, late 19th Century, demonstrating the wide range of dye colours available. The colours are so rich and jewel like, it could be an artist’s paint box.

Fun Fact

I issued James, 007 Bond’s passport. When I worked at the British Consulate in Geneva, Roger Moore applied for his passport to be renewed and used an old publicity shot for the photograph. It was decided that passport control would recognise him, so the photo was allowed.
