Do I need to book to visit the Museum?
The Waterways Gallery and the Banbury Gallery are free to visit. You do not need to book in advance. Charges apply to visit temporary exhibitions in our PYE Gallery.
You can check online to see what our latest exhibition is and book your tickets before you visit to secure your desired time slot. Any tickets not sold, will be made available on the day for purchase.
Why can’t I buy a family ticket?
We offer a range of ticketing options to suit a variety of different needs. These include adult, child, concessions, and Art Fund members.
What ages are included for a child ticket?
2-18 years old. Children aged under 2 years are free.
What is classed as a concession ticket?
Concessions include those aged 65 and over, students on production of a valid student card and those unwaged. We also accept Museum concession cards such as ICOM, please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to book using a museum concession card.
I am attending the exhibition with a person I care for. Do I pay?
Carer(s) are admitted free with a fee-paying ticket.
I can’t get my payment to authorise.
The booking system allows payments via card or Paypal. If you are having difficulties paying by card and do not have a Paypal account, your card issuer may have imposed some restrictions on bookings made via mobile phones. If possible, try to book using a tablet or PC. For further help please telephone 01295 236165.
What does my exhibition ticket entitle me to?
Tickets are assigned an hour time slot. For example, 10am-11am. We manage access to ensure you have a comfortable experience in the gallery and social distancing can be observed by those who wish to do so. Please arrive promptly for your time slot. During busy times, it may not be possible to extend your session if you over run. You may leave the gallery for a comfort break and return during your booked time slot.
How long will my visit to the exhibition take?
We allow up to an hour for our temporary exhibitions. Some may feel half an hour is sufficient, some may take the whole hour. If you wish to extend your visit, why not visit our other galleries, the museum shop or stop by the café for some refreshment?
What is your cancellation policy on tickets?
Tickets to our temporary exhibitions and events are non-refundable. If someone in your party is ill or cannot travel, you may transfer your ticket(s). Please contact us as soon as you are able, to re organise your visit at email@example.com or phone 01295 236165.
Where do I park?
There are no parking facilities onsite, however there are several car parks within walking distance. These include those at Castle Quays Shopping Centre which has an overflow car park accessed from Spiceball Park Road, adjacent to the museum. See their website for more details
Please be aware there is no accessible parking at the Museum. The nearest parking is at Castle Quay’s overflow on Spiceball Park Road. There is level access from both the rear door to the museum on Spiceball Park Road, and lift access from the museum shop and welcome centre.
Do you have accessible toilet facilities?
Yes we do. You will find them on Level 0 (Ground) near our museum reception desk. You will also find baby changing facilities on every level of the museum.

Is there somewhere to get refreshments?
Canalside at the museum you will find our partners Pavement Coffee Co. They offer a breakfast and brunch menu alongside take out options like sandwiches, salads and soups. They prepare fresh food daily and bake their own bread for their menu that regularly changes to reflect their seasonal ingredients. There is also a range of dairy free and plant-based options available as well as a children’s menu.
