The Mechanical Circus

The Mechanical Circus

Roll up! Roll up! The Mechanical Circus is coming to town! Go back in time with Banbury Museum and remember those idyllic childhood days of magic and curiosity, where the marvels of the fairground and circus brought imaginations to life.

Mechanical Circus is a wonderfully nostalgic journey through the good old days of pre-electric entertainment. With lots of magical buttons to press and optical illusions to explore, the exhibition is truly interactive and is perfect for kids aged 1-100! Visitors can put their head in a lion’s mouth, lift the strongman weights or pose at the ‘beach’ – ideal for those family photo memories.

The exhibition includes Banbury Museum’s first international loans and features 20 historic artefacts from the Museum Boerhaave in The Netherlands. With over 40 automata exhibits and 10 interactive games, all displayed in an immersive carnival atmosphere, the exhibition promises a truly memorable experience for all the family.
