Coronavirus (COVID-19) | Banbury Museum

November Lockdown

Firstly we would like to take the opportunity to thank all of our visitors for your continued support during this time. It has been fantastic to see so many of you appreciating the galleries since we reopened in August and we are so pleased to have offered not only a safe and welcoming space but a fun and rich experience for our community in these uncertain times.

In line with the latest national lockdown our galleries and museum shop is now closed until Wednesday 2 December.

We will be observing all the advice and guidelines provided by the government and will be ready and waiting to open once again.

We would like to thank everyone that came to visit our Brick Built exhibition over the summer, we thoroughly enjoyed being able to welcome so many of you in to see a world built from Lego® bricks.

During lockdown we will be safely working behind the scenes preparing to deliver one of the most ambitious shows yet – our next exhibition Portrayals will bring together more than 45 original paintings and drawings by some of the country’s most celebrated twentieth century and contemporary artists, including David Hockney, Lucian Freud and Paula Rego. Read more about Portrayals here.

Although the opening of this exhibition may be slightly delayed we couldn’t be more excited to host such an incredible line up of artwork and will be keeping you posted on its opening through our newsletter and social media channels.

Our wonderful lifestyle and gift shop will open on Wednesday 2 December, however we can also help with your Christmas shopping list from the comfort of your sofa.

Follow us on Instagram where we will be sharing lots of gift ideas, even for those tricky hard to buy for people. We can shop, wrap and pack for you – all you need to do is collect. Let us help this season – shop small, shop local – shop with us.

Wow! What a lovely October half term. A huge thank you to all the families that chose to spend their time with us. October half term is usually a very busy week and although this year was quieter than usual as we hosted our first COVID safe events, it was fantastic to have that ‘buzz on the bridge’ as families enjoyed getting messy with clay, spooky crafts and building some great brick masterpieces!
